Netflix released the official trailer for Lost in Starlight, the upcoming Korean animated film. Set in a futuristic Korea in 2050, the trailer opens with Nan-young dreaming of traveling to Mars while Jay wonders how they can stay in touch across such vast distances. Nan-young, one of the few who can hear Jay’s music, wishes more people could listen to him. Their sweet first love quickly turns into muffled fights as they argue. Despite the uncertainty of not knowing how Nan-young is or if she’s safe, Jay doesn’t regret ever meeting her.

Kim Tae Ri and Hong Kyung star as Nan-young and Jay. Their characters meet by chance, and their bond deepens when Nan-young asks Jay to help repair her late mother’s vinyl record player. The new visuals show the two gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes, with a blue-and-white droid and vines framing the scene.
Director Han Ji-won made her feature debut with the 2015 animated anthology Clearer Than You Think and is also known for directing the 2023 queer coming-of-age short The Summer. Produced by Climax Studio and Red Dog Culture House, Lost in Starlight is Netflix’s first Korean original animated film.
Lost in Starlight premieres on Netflix on May 30.
